To make sure that eBay for Charity is beneficial to participating charities, there is a £2 minimum donation for every listing sold by a Community Seller. This means that for every listing that sells, the seller donates the greater of:

• The percent the seller chooses to donate X the final sale price
  (for example: a donation of 20% X a £55 final sale price = £11.00 donation)

If you sell more than one item in a single listing, the £2 minimum will only be counted once. For items that do not sell, there is no minimum donation.

There is no minimum donation for Charity Direct Seller listings.

• Why is there a minimum donation?
• Why is the minimum donation £2?

Because we're a charity, we make a small deduction from each Community Seller donation processed to offset credit card charges, bank fees and other expenses. Our deduction is based on the size of the donation; the percentage gets smaller as the donation gets bigger. We never take more than 20% of any donation and on average our deduction is about 10%.

Additionally, 100% of the Gift Aid we claim from Community Seller listings goes to benefiting charities.

Note: Charity Facts (www.charityfacts.org) has found that UK fundraising costs average 15% - 25%. MissionFish never deducts more than 20% and our average deduction is roughly 10%, making the eBay for Charity programme a cost effective fundraising channel for charities of all sizes.

When a charity sells their own items through eBay for Charity:

1. They receive 100% of the final sale price of the item, paid directly by the buyer.
2. There is no minimum donation.
3. MissionFish does not make a deduction from the transaction.
4. The Charity Direct Seller is responsible for all eBay and PayPal fees.
5. eBay will credit back a 100% of the basic selling fees ( basic insertion fee and final value fees) if the item sells.

A Charity Direct Seller may also pay an auction management company or other third party from their proceeds. The Charity Direct Seller chooses whether or not to include this information in the item description.

Example In this example the Charity Direct Seller earns £20.00 on the sale of a £20 item. The charity has: Sold an item for £20.00 100% is automatically donated This is a Charity Direct Seller, so there is no MissionFish deduction. eBay credits 100% of its basic selling fees back to the seller. *Assumes a £0.35 Insertion Fee for a starting price of £5.00. **The charity may need to pay additional fees not calculated in this example such as PayPal, credit card fees, third-party auction houses, etc.

• How do we become a Charity Direct Seller?
