    Abbie Rumbold, Partner, Bates, Wells and Braithwaite

  • Abbie Rumbold is a highly regarded charity lawyer with a particular expertise in social enterprise. She edited the 2006 edition of Keeping It Legal, wrote the ACEVO Guide to the Legal Status of Charity Chief Executives and contributed to Charities: The New Law on the new Charities Act as well as writing numerous articles. She was a member of the CLA working party on the Companies Act. She is, by ministerial appointment, a member of the Office of the Third Sector Advisory Board. Her client work has included registering the first charity for the promotion of ethical investment (Fair Pensions) and advising on the establishment of a new fair trade business for the founders of Café Direct. She is recommended by Legal 500 for her work in the health care field.

    Alison Merifield, PR consultant

  • Ali has spent ten years in public relations, specialising in high-tech and consulting companies. She has worked in agencies in the US and UK, but has also spent time working and volunteering in New Zealand, Tanzania, Costa Rica and Namibia. Ali supports MissionFish's PR and marketing efforts, and overall communications plans.


  • Matthew Metcalfe, Financial Advisor, UCLH

  • Matthew Metcalfe trained as an accountant with Arthur Andersen, before joining Rothschild as a corporate financier, where he worked for fifteen years. At Rothschild Matthew advised on a large number of acquistions, disposals and fundraisings, principally in the telecoms and technology sector. Subsequently, Matthew has worked as for University College London Hospitals as an adviser on strategic developments, including the development of a new ambulatory cancer centre and the bid to establish the first proton beam therapy centre, and has been running the corporate decision support and financial reporting team.


  • Llewellyn Thomas, Management & Technology Consultant

  • Llewellyn Thomas supports small, innovative firms in the UK, where he specialises in competitive and operational strategy. He was previously information strategy lead at BearingPoint UK, and is currently a Board Member of the Association for Image and Information Management International. Llewellyn has an MBA in finance & strategy, and Honours Degrees in Arts and Law, and is currently studying for his PhD in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Imperial College London.


  • Emma Sambrook, Director of Development & Alumni Relations, UWE, Bristol

  • Emma joined the third sector as a fundraiser at the National Asthma Campaign. She has also worked for Whizz-Kidz, New Philanthropy Capital and KidsOut where she was Chief Executive. She is currently Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of the West of England in Bristol where she is introducing fundraising for philanthropic projects to the University. She has also co-authored a book on fundraising law.


  • Sean Milliken, Executive Director, MissionFish (US)

  • Sean founded MissionFish in the U.S. in 1999 after working as Associate Vice President of Marketing & Development for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. It was during his time with Boys & Girls Clubs that Sean saw first-hand the endless availability of donated goods and services and the ability of auctions to turn previously unusable resources into unrestricted funding.
