Why use MissionFish?
- MissionFish vets every charity that wants to join eBay for Charity to ensure they are valid UK charities and they meet eBay’s Community Standards. Registration is free and simple.
- Once registered with MissionFish, your charity can start enjoying the benefits:
- Sell on eBay: turn unwanted goods into cash
- Hold an auction: run a fundraising event on eBay
- Receive donations: anyone can support your charity when they sell on eBay

Who can register with MissionFish?
- Almost any charity can register with MissionFish, as long as the organisation:
- Is able to provide proof of charitable status
- Is able to accept payments by BACS transfer
- Does not promote:
- Hate
- Violence
- Racial intolerance
- Illegal activities
- Is not included on any terrorist watch list
- The types of charities that generally can register with MissionFish include:
- Charities registered with the Charity Commission
- Exempted and excepted organisations
- Charities registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator
- Churches, mosques and synagogues
- Subordinates and local branches of large charities
- Schools, hospices and small charities (under £5,000 in revenue) who are registered with HMRC
- If you're not sure whether your organisation can register with MissionFish, contact our Community Care team.
- Your organisation does not have to register with eBay in order to receive donations from eBay for Charity listings placed on your behalf. However, to sell items donated to your organisation or your own goods through eBay for Charity, you will have to register with eBay

Completing MissionFish registration
- To register with MissionFish, first read and approve our charity user agreement.
- Complete the registration form and submit it.
- Check your email inbox for the confirmation email and create a password.
- Send us your instruction letter, voided cheque and confirmation page.

- Instruction letter
- If you are a UK Registered Charity, we need an instruction letter on charity letterhead showing your charity number, stating that the person registering your charity is an approved representative for this purpose. We need this to provide an audit trail of your registration, and to demonstrate that your charity is eligible to receive donations from the eBay for Charity programme.

Organization Type
Instruction Letter
Registered with the Charity Commission
Send us a letter declaring that the person registering your charity is an approved representative for this purpose. This letter must be on your charity’s letterhead with its charity number.
We will then check that you appear in the Charity Commission Register of Charities
Registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)
Send us a copy of your letter from HM Revenue and Customs (formerly the Inland Revenue) confirming that your organisation is charitable for tax purposes
We will then check that you appear in OSCR's Index of Charities.
Northern Ireland charities
Send us a copy of your 'Certificate of Exemption' letter from HM Revenue and Customs (formerly the Inland Revenue) confirming that your purposes are charitable.
Exempt charities
Send us a copy of your Inland Revenue or HM Revenue and Customs Charity Recognition letter (which includes your Tax Reference Number).
Excepted charities
(including those below the threshold of £5,000 annual income)Send us a copy of your Inland Revenue or HM Revenue and Customs Charity Recognition letter (which includes your Tax Reference Number).
Local branches of a national charity (that are not independently registered)
Send us a letter from your national headquarters, on their charity letterhead, stating that
a) they have charitable status,
b) that your organisation/branch/project is affiliated with the national organisation, and
c) that the person registering your charity is an approved representative for this purposeWe will then contact your national headquarters to check that they accept the arrangement.

- A voided cheque or paying-in slip from your organisation
We need a voided cheque or paying-in slip to verify your bank account information to pay out donations via BACS. We will not use this information to debit your bank account. - If your organisation's bank account does not have cheques or paying-in slips, we need a letter from your bank, on their letterhead that includes the following:
- The bank's logo and address
- Your charity's name and address
- Your organisation's account number
- Your organisation's bank branch sort code

Why is my charity not appearing on MissionFish
- If your organisation does not appear in our database of charities, it's usually because we haven’t received all the documentation we need. Contact our Community Care team to find out how to complete your registration.

Notify your accounting department
- Please inform your accounting department, and/or anyone who oversees the bank account information that you provided to us, that your organisation has registered with MissionFish and may be receiving monthly BACS payments.
- Your donations will be delivered directly into your account towards the end of each month and will be deposited from "MissionFish-UK,"
