  • eBay Giving Works Charity Ribbon Warning: fraudulent car sale scams on Gumtree, AutoTrader, Craigslist

  • 18 May 2010
  • Recently we have received reports of our name being used in association with fraudulent listings and scams on classified websites like AutoTrader and Craigslist.
  • Please note: MissionFish does not retain items in our possession or sell them directly on any website (even on eBay). We also do not provide our service for Gumtree, AutoTrader or Craigslist, and therefore we do not facilitate donations on those sites.
  • If you have enquired about an item online and are contacted for payment by someone claiming to be working for MissionFish, please do not send money to anyone. If you suspect that you have encountered a fraudulent listing, feel free to contact our Community Care team. You should also report the attempted fraud to your local police and the national fraud reporting centre External Link, providing as much detail as possible about the "seller."
  • We are working directly with classified websites to pull down fraudulent listings and pursue the perpetrators of this crime. We always encourage caution in large online purchases, and appreciate your help in preventing online fraud.
