MissionFish responds to the Government's Green Paper on Giving
- 7 March 2011
- MissionFish has published its response to the Government’s Green Paper
on charitable giving. The response builds on several points made by MissionFish UK’s CEO, Nick Aldridge, in an essay on giving and technology
published by the Cabinet Office, and draws on MissionFish’s experience in operating eBay for Charity
. - The response emphasises the business benefits of corporate giving, both in building connections between local businesses and charities, and in engaging consumers in shopping for a good cause. It also highlights the significant legal and accounting costs involved in developing such partnerships, and suggests that they could be reduced to catalyse more local fundraising by businesses. The response also argues that rules on donor benefits could be streamlined to encourage more businesses to incentivise giving by their customers.
