Sellers Can Now Add a Charity to Their Live eBay Listings
- 2 August 2007
- Many charities and sellers have asked for the ability to add a charity to a live listing on eBay. We are pleased to announce this option is now available to all sellers, including Direct Sellers. Sellers will now be able to revise live listings and donate 10% - 100% of their Final Sale Price to a charity.
How it Works for Sellers
- Live listings can be updated through the Revise, Relist of Sell Similar tools in My eBay. As of Monday 30th July 2007, the Revise tool will allow sellers with listings that have at least 12 hours remaining to:
- Add a charity to support and select a percentage to donate to a live listing
- Increase the percentage to donate to an existing eBay for Charity listing
- Sellers will not be able to:
- Change their current benefiting charity in an existing eBay for Charity listing
- Decrease the donation percentage
How it Works for Charity
- If a charity’s supporters forget to choose to donate a percentage of their eBay sales, they can simply visit their eBay account and update the listing! This means there are now more opportunities than ever for charities to have eBay for Charity items listed on their behalf.
Notification of New and Revised Listings
- Charities can choose to be notified about Community Seller listings in several ways. If a charity set up its Charity My MissionFish account to be notified about new listings and listing changes, then itwill automatically receive a notification email whenever a seller has revised an item.
- Keep in mind that a seller can revise his or her listing with as little as 12 hours before it ends. Charities should be sure to keep an eye out for emails and notifications from MissionFish about new and revised Community Seller listings.
- To check notification preferences, charities can sign-in to their Charity My MissionFish account and click on the email preferences link in the Edit My Profile section.

"Besides the new funds raised through our eBay auction, the profile of the charity has been raised immeasurably through eBay for Charity. We're still riding the wave!" — Claire Newman, Development Office, Books Abroad
