Sales for charity will be free on eBay.co.uk from 15th November
- 1 November 2007
- Many charities and sellers have suggested that eBay for Charity could improve the eBay fee donation policy. We are now pleased to announce that as of 15th November, eBay will credit its fees straight back to sellers using the eBay for Charity programme. The fee credits will cover the basic insertion fees for listing items on the site, as well as the final value fees, eBay’s commission on sales.
How it Works for Sellers
- When an item is listed through eBay for Charity, the seller is eligible for the eBay fee credit
- eBay will credit fees back to the seller, according to the level of their donation
- For example, if a seller donates 50% of their sale price to charity, they will receive a 50% credit on their fees
- The eBay fee credit will be paid back to the seller on their first invoice after the item sells
How it Works for Charity?
- All charity Direct Sellers will be credited back 100% of eBay’s selling fees. This means charities will no longer have to pay the basic insertion fee on items that sell
- The eBay fee credit will be paid back to the seller on their first invoice after the item sells. Previously, the fees were donated to the charity once a quarter
- The eBay fee credit will be credited back to the seller, rather than the donation being paid back into the charity bank account
- Charities will no longer receive a percentage of Community Seller final value fees. Instead they will be credited back to the seller – making it cost effective for eBay sellers to donate to charity
- Note, basic listing fees will only be refunded if the item sells.
- If you have any questions about the eBay fee credit, feel free to contact our Community Care team.

"Besides the new funds raised through our eBay auction, the profile of the charity has been raised immeasurably through eBay for Charity. We're still riding the wave!" — Claire Newman, Development Office, Books Abroad
